My dog is a 4 year old chihuahua and he was fixed when he was 3, which made him afraid of a lot of things. He’s been traveling long distances in the car since he was a tiny puppy but after he was fixed he gets really scared when we drive fast, but when we drive slow he is fine. He gets a really worried look on his face but doesn’t throw up, I don’t think it’s motion sickness but I don’t know. we talk to him and hold him but nothing works, he’ll go under the seat of the car and then comes up and repeats that every minute. any suggestions?

my bf has 2 chihuahua’s & they don’t care for traveling at all. Might be a trait of the breed? I’d put them in a carrier to reduce the stress if they have to travel

My husband and I love riding our 4wheelers and we just bought a sheltie who absolutely loves being outdoors, we would like to take her on 4wheeler rides but cannot come up with a way for her to sit on there, like a bin or a pet seat we can’t think of anything so i was wondering if anyone had any good ideas or products that work for things like that. I know this is kind of a strange question but we just want her to enjoy the fun to!

if it’s a puppy, get one of those baby holders that goes over your shoulders (and the baby is in front of your stomach).

if it’s a big dog, get one of those side riders, like for kids on motorcycles.

or,
1. teach her to “sit and stay” in your house.
2. then teach her to “sit and stay” on the (unmoving and unstarted) 4wheeler
3. then teach her to “sit and stay” on the started, but not moving, 4 wheeler
4. teach her to “sit and stay” in your car

after she has mastered all of this, try having her sit on the 4wheeler while you ride slowly in 1st gear. if she jumps off, “bad dog”; if she stays where you want her to, give her lots of praise and a treat. constant praise for good behavior is the key to training her.
