Hello……I am going to be adopting a pug puppy. I want to be able to safely take him with me in the car. Can someone please post links to a SAFE and effective dog car seat. So many online reviews of car seats I’ve seen at pet stores are awful….the dog gets out, the dog could be choked by straps, etc. Could someone who has purchased a really good and effective car seat please tell me about it and also a link to the product and where I could buy it? My puppy will be very small to begin with but I need something that can grow with him. Thanks!

A dog does NOT need a seat. I understand you don’t want him running around in the car, but buy a crate large enough for him (as an adult) to turn around, sit/stand up and lay down in, put it in the boot of the car or on the back seats, and that works /fine/. It’s a lot safer than a seatbelt/seat and a lot more comfortable for the dog.

how many of you own a dog car seat ? i bought one for my little dog on an online petsupply store and its being shipped . i was curious how everyones dog likes sitting in one , and are they secure ?
any other information about them would be great . thanks .. below is a picture of the seat , the pug in the seat is not mine … My Pug is cuter … lol

if you want your 4 legged friend to be safe in your car put him in a crate and make sure its not to hot. don’t waste your money

I like most people take my dog for car rides. I use a safety harness for her safety. I’m having issues though because she is all over the place trying to look out the window. I have a pom who is only 5 pounds so she cant see out when restrained. I have looked into these doggy car seats and some are expensive while some are cheaper too. The only issue now is we have a VW bug with a shelf in the back. If you don’t know what that means it is we only have two seats and a high flat carpet surface in the back. I have considered making a homemade car seat permanent back there. Our dog is usually always with us since she makes a good travel companion. I want to make her a custom seat back there. Lots of foam and fabric and it will be restrained to the cars body. It will be like the look out car seats so she can see out the window. I want her behind me because her current harness is the kind that is hooked to my seat belt and I don’t think this is safe since my belt is a lap belt. I know this may not seem safe a homemade car seat but I’m not asking opinions about that I want to know how to make it safe. Oh yeah don’t tell me just to leave her at home if I was going to do that I could have thought of that on my own. Thanks for all the input.
I really do like the nice suede doggy lookout seats and have considered buying one and figure out how to keep it in one spot. Has anyone done this do you think I could hook it to the back of my seat? It would be half way up to where the shelf meets it.
i don’t have a head rest in this car. well there is a part for you head it just isn’t like the ones you see today. i just need to know a type i could hook to the back of a seat. or how i can make my own.
