Question by chihuahuamadvix: I am moving to California from the UK and want to take my dog?
He is a chihuahua. I have had quite an extensive look online and it seems that the best option available is to put him in a carrier and put him in under the seat in front of me. But the flight is 11 hours and I know my dog will not sit happily in his own waste for that long! He is also too scared to sit in the cargo hold. Does anyone know of any airlines that allow you to have a seat for your pet on long-haul flights?

I’m not totally sure on this, but my friend flew from New York to Orlando FL with a cat sitting with her and that was on Delta airlines. But then again the flight is no where near as long.

Question by Angel Girl: Dog get car sick and going on long road trip.?
I have a jack Russell that will be 2 soon and we plan on going on a long- 8 hour, road trip to the beach and I plan on taking him with me. I know for a fact he gets car sick on just a hour or so car ride. What can I do to prevent him from getting sick, if I can. What should I do if he does gets sick? Could I give him Ginger snaps? Should he be in his crate/carrier in the car or in a seat in a dog seat belt? Tell me anything you think would help me. Im planning ahead as we don’t plan to go till August.

Well August is hot, so try and ventilate the car best you can. Keep lots of water. Something of a comfort, maybe yourself or a toy. I wouldn’t feed him, it may make him more sicker. I’d also maybe have him in the back of the car with a blanket covering most sides so he feels like its his safe zone. And just comfort him from there. But again, the water, keeps lots of it for him, and throughout the 8 hours, occupy him as long as you can. I know that length would be tiring for anyone. You could also ask your vet for some tablets.

Question by hurleygurlnfg: How can I help my dog in the car?
My dog is a 4 year old chihuahua and he was fixed when he was 3, which made him afraid of a lot of things. He’s been traveling long distances in the car since he was a tiny puppy but after he was fixed he gets really scared when we drive fast, but when we drive slow he is fine. He gets a really worried look on his face but doesn’t throw up, I don’t think it’s motion sickness but I don’t know. we talk to him and hold him but nothing works, he’ll go under the seat of the car and then comes up and repeats that every minute. any suggestions?

my bf has 2 chihuahua’s & they don’t care for traveling at all. Might be a trait of the breed? I’d put them in a carrier to reduce the stress if they have to travel
